Auto accident took life of Lala Abbasova

December 3, 2008, Houston – Lala Abbasova, our dear friend and a lovely Azeri musician who moved audiences and influenced fellow musicians in Baku and in Houston has died in an auto accident.  She was 58 years old. During her life, Lala made a difference to the lives of many of us here in Houston.  She was a beautiful person, a dear mother and grandmother, a true friend, a wonderful cook and a gifted musician. With her meticulous care and deep musical understanding she was able to recreate the soul and the emotions of the Azerbaijani folk music for the community here in Houston.

Lala left Baku in 2005 to live with her family here in Houston where she created a new, full life for herself.  With her gracious and warm personality and classically trained background, Lala inspired other musicians living in Houston to join her music group and to give unforgettable Azeri folk music performances for the Houston community.

Those who would like to pay their respects to Lala xanim and/or bring their donations, please join us on Saturday, December 6, between 11 am and 1 pm at the Turkish Cultural Center, 9301 W. Belfort Ave. (just East of Beltway 8), Houston, TX 77031, tel: 713-974-1412.

Rest in Peace. Allah rehmet elasin.
