Azerbaijani performers at 3rd Annual Turkic Cultures and Children's Festival
The weekend of November 7-8, 2009 became memorable for Houston for an outstanding joint Festival of Turkic people. The multicultural celebration, which also included displays and performances of non-turkic countries such as Pakistan, Greece and Afghanistan, was made possible by the Turkish Raindrop Foundation. HBSCA participated in showcasing Azerbaijan at a general information booth. A live music and song performance by young Azeri musicians (saz and vocal) was well received, especially by the Azerbaijani community in Houston. The festival, which took place in front of Houston's City Hall, attracted over 20,000 visitors.
On Thursday, October 29, 2009, HBSCA President Irada Akhoundova attended a reception at the Houston residence of the Consul General of Turkey. The occasion for the reception was to bring the Houston consular and international community together for a celebration of Turkey's Republic Day. Please join us in congratulating Turkey with this important day in their history. Cumhuriyet Bayrami Mubarak!
