Learn and Lunch at City Hall

On Thursday, March 25, 2010, the Houston Baku Sister City Association presented a Lunch and Learn program at the Houston City Hall Visitor's Centre. During the event, which was open to the public, some 50 guests had an opportunity to learn more about Azerbaijan, the country, its culture, history and people and about the country's traditional annual Novruz (Spring New Year) celebration. The presentation was followed by a question and answer session during which a lot of interest was shown in the Azerbaijan of today, the economy, the infrastructure and social system. Of course the whole event would not have been complete without the traditional Azerbaijani hospitality of treating the guests with a delicious home cooked meal followed by tea and bakhlava. Special thanks goes to the staff at Houston City Hall to make this event happen and to volunteers Arifa Bixby for her presentation and to Nargiz Jeffus, Seva Gustin and Shahira Aliyeva for their culinary input.
